There is not a very high demand for Asian carp anywhere in the world. Most of the demand for this type of fish is for decorative purposes, much like koi fish. In some European and Asian countries there is a small demand for them in a decorative capacity, but overall their demand has decreased significantly in recent years. Several great lake states are trying to promote the consumption of Asian carp in order to help thin out the population of this invasive type of fish. In attempt to make it sound more appetizing some have started referring it as “silverfin”.
