Is there a conflict between renewable energy project developers and conservationists in California?

There is always a push and pull between conservationists and developers whenever any project is proposed, but these are particularly interesting considering what they are trying to accomplish. Renewable energy production products like wind turbine or solar panel arrays, take up a lot of space. There have been many battles between desert conservationists and the different energy projects constructed in the Mojave desert, which is ideal for solar and wind energy. Wind turbine projects off the coast have also been entrenched in conflict from the adamant coast preservationists. The other renewable energy source, hydroelectric, which is created in the form of dams, comes under constant protest. But this one is the most understandable because dams completely destroy and change the flow of the watershed that they are build on.
