The name “cockroach of the sea” or “sea cockroach” has been used to refer to five different marine animals: the sea slater (a crab which really looks like a cockroach), the lobster, the prawn, the jellyfish, and the minke whale. As a descriptive epithet rather than an exact name, none of these creatures really has more of an intrinsic claim over the others to the title.
