Is there carbon in dust?

Dust is composed of a lot of different materials — it’s really just a general name for particles of a size less than 500 micrometers in diameter. Dust inside the home is mostly composed of human skin cells, and also small amounts of plant pollen, human and animal hairs, textile fibers, paper fibers, minerals from outdoor soil, and other materials found in the environment. So it’s likely there’s carbon contained in some of those particles.
