There are many clean ups in beach communites around the world that try to reduce the amount of trash in the water and shoreline. A lot of this trash is plastic, since it’s really hard to break down. This plastic is usually taken to a recycling center or properly disposed of. However, the trash and plastic out in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a little harder to clean up. One of the reasons being it would take a lot of fossil fuels to power enough boats to go out there and get the trash.
