Sewage can be used to grow single-celled algae to produce biofuel. Algea is seen as a good biofuel candidate because it does not need to compete with resources for food production like corn and soy biofuels do. Algea also has a higher yeild of biofuel than corn and soy.
Sewage has the nutrients needed to grow algea and is made every day. Using sewage to grow algae for biofuel also has the advantage of saving money by cleaning up wastewater.
