Yes, there are a few other options. One is ozone gas treatment. It has a higher intitial cost, but that offsets maintenance and cleaning costs that will now no longer be needed. Ultraviolet radiation can also be used to clean pools. Some problems with these technologies are basically that not a lot of people are familiar with them, so it can be hard to get started.
