Is there any modifications to a Toyota Prius that will make it even more efficient?

It certainly looks like a lot of people are doing just that. There are whole websites dedicated to sharing information on how to modify the Toyota Prius not only for aesthetic reasons but to squeeze out extra fuel efficiency. New York Times ran an article on how a couple Prius owners installed extra batteries and make it chargeable from an electrical outlet. That allows it to run on electricity alone for long stretches, reaching an efficiency (according to the modders) of 65-100 mpg, as opposed to 40-45 on a regular Prius. The article also mentions how a company did more sophisticated battery upgrades to get up to 180 mpg with a 30 mile range on battery power alone.
