Last May, the House and Senate passed The Electric Vehicle Deployment Act of 2010, which provides multiple consumer incentives for taxpayers to buy electric, as well as grants from the Department of Energy to electric vehicle production plants which maintain continuous operation through the year the bill was pased.
The bill is timely, coniciding with the debuts of the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt. The bill is presumably targeted at mobilizing sales of these two consumer-friendly cars. Ultimately the bill’s (optimistic) goals are to electrize half of the automobiles on the road throughout America.
