It seems as though carbon dioxide is generally emitted for every kilowatt generated. So wind power does emit CO2 but at a much lower level than many other technologies. It is estimated that using a 750 kilowatt wind power can displace as much CO2 as can be absorbed by 500 acres of forest in a year.
The emissions during the use of wind turbines are almost negligible and indirect. That’s mainly going to be from maintenance and replacement parts, while the electricity generation itself is clean. Majority of emissions associated with wind power come during the manufacture and installation of the turbine – from energy needed for powering the factory as well as construction equipment.
