Is there any coal in California?

California does not produce coal and has no coal-burning power plants. It does use some coal power, but that only makes up about 1% of total electricity used in the state.

There are coal deposits in Corral Hollow, California, but California is not one of the leading states for coal.

While all of the anthracite coal mines in the United States are located in northeastern Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania are the largest producers of bituminous coal. Wyoming is the leading source of subbituminous coal.
