Is there any book publishers give away unsold, or production overrun books lying idle in their warehouse?

Do they sell thunsold new books for a discounted price?

For a time, publishers would burn books, although that approach has become unpopular. A few things may happen to unsold books. They may be donated to charity (as popular bookstore, not publisher, Borders was pressured to do) or they may be returned to the publisher. When returned, books often will sit around in a warehouse and wait to be sent out as bookstores request the books once more. Or, some books are turned back into pulp. Publishers may also sell damaged books on the internet (think, but not directly to consumers with no website middlemand.
