There is not a commonly acknowledged amount of oil that has spilled into the gulf. There are only different expert estimates. The PBS Newshour website has an oil spill calculator where you can adjust the rate of how many gallons a day the oil was spilling. The website gives you the Department of Energy estimate (1,470,000 gallons/day), the BP worst case estimate (2,520,000 gallons/day) and other experts worst case estimate (4,200,000) With these estimates, anywhere from 92,340,117 gallons to 327,736,263 gallons of oil could have spilled into the gulf as a result of the BP oil spill.
