Is texting a more efficient way of communicating than being on the phone?

Texting is much more informal and doesn’t generate impulsive, real responses. Being on the phone requires immediate reaction, which in turn results in a more genuine conversation. In terms of efficiency, calling someone (as long as it doesn’t go to voicemail) gets someone on the phone instantly, while texting back and forth can take awhile.
