Is Tesla smart in using its drive-train for the model S for its other cars?

That’s a matter of opinion, though there is sufficient fact to lead one to believe so. Before the Model S, a lot of Tesla’s cars used parts cribbed from other developers. Many people criticized Tesla for that, but now that they’ve developed their own drivetrain, those criticisms have quieted. And it helps that the new drivetrain is all-electric, which makes it zero-emission.
