Is tear gas bad for the environment?

The most common tear gas in use, Chlorobenzylidene Malononitrile, also known as CS gas is indeed very bad for the environment. It is toxic to humans and animals and has the potential to deplete the ozone level in large quantities.  Fortunately, CS gas is used so infrequently that its effects on the environment have been minimal.  I don’t think, come to think of it, that there exists any truly “green” weapon.
