Is tanning bad for your environment?

Not only do the UVA and UVB rays that penetrate the skin under direct sunlight or in a tanning bed cause premature aging, they also pose serious health risks, particularly for malignant melanoma (skin cancer).

As for our external environment, tanning beds use special light bulbs that simulate sunlight, and these bulbs contain mercury and are thus treated as hazardous materials and should be disposed of responsibly (usually at a recycling center).
