mercury levels in stingrey,is it safe in pregnancy
Mercury levels found in fish are not ideal for a diet while pregnant. However, as fish have many other nutrients that are beneficial to a person’s development and maintenance, it is advised that if a woman chose to eat fish while pregnant it should be done in moderation. There is a helpful listing at this website that shows the fish with the highest content of mercury to the lowest. Unfortunately, sting ray is not on that list. It is noted that sharks and larger fish have typically high and unsafe levels of mercury in their systems. So I would be advised, since many sting/shark rays are larger, and are either prey of sharks (Cownose ray) or predators of smaller sharks (Southern ray). Hope this answered the question
