Is the stimulus bill being used for anything that is not green?

The stimulus bill passed by Congress last winter has devoted money to job-creating projects in a variety of industries.  Around 10% of the stimulus was devoted to green energy technology, and it definitely gave the renewable energy a much-needed boost.  However, the media has tended to exaggerate the degree to which the stimulus focused on green energy – much of the money actually went into much more traditional projects.  That said, the stimulus helped acquaint Americans with the idea that investing in the environment can be good for the economy as well.  It’s to be hoped that as Congress works to fix our economic problems, many more investments in the green energy sector will be forthcoming.
