Is the rainforest still being chopped down?

    Yes, this is an ongoing problem for many reasons, including commercial logging, clearing of the forest for agriculture, locals using wood for fuel, the clearing of forest for mining and industry, etc. However, there’s some good news. Brazil announced this month that destruction of the rainforest is at its lowest level in two decades.

    Yes, rainforests are being cut down “at an alarming rate.” It is estimated by the U.N. that every minute, 60 acres of rainforest are being chopped down.
