Stainless steel is actually a mixture of many metals. There is a risk that these metals, including nicklel and chromium can contaminate food. Cast iron cookware can possibly improves one’s health because it allows some iron to enter the food that is cooked in it. This can help replenish red blood cells, giving the body more energy.
The metals used to make stainless steel can actually emit toxins into the atmosphere during production as well. Better to go with the cast iron!
Unless of course you have hemochromatosis. Then the extra iron from cast iron is toxic. This is the sort of problem that doesn’t have an easy one-size-fits-all solution.
