One study has found that it reduces bad cholesterol, reducing one’s risk of heart disease (http://www.drbriffa.com/blog/2005/01/23/sparkling-water/).

Another that it relieves indigestion and diarrhea (http://www.everybody.co.nz/page-89b7bf0d-dd22-438e-b39e-eadc66d52c90.aspx).

Although carbonated water has carbonic acid added to it to create the bubbles, the risk of dental erosion is low (http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Carbonated_water).

Basically, the differences are negligible overall though http://www.ehow.com/about_5100595_sparkling-water-vs-regular-water.html), but if drinking carbonated water makes you drink more water, then that is definitely a positive.
