Is Spanish moss bad for trees? Should I pull it down?

You can remove it if you want.  Although it is not parasitic and rarely kills trees, it can limit growth and productivity of the host tree as it reduces the amount of light that reaches the tree.  It can also provide homes for a number of animals such as bats and rattlesnakes.  If the Spanish moss is getting intense or you just don’t want it on your trees, follow the second link to see some moderately easy ways to remove it.
