sound waves collection in a turbine

Sound waves are very different from wind in that they do not move the air, but rather vibrate it. The amount of energy contained in sound is so negligible that it could not power any electrical device we use today. My high school physics teacher said that squeaky brakes are actually slightly more efficient than quiet ones because some of the vehicle’s momentum gets dissipated by the sound rather than wearing out the brake pads. However, most people find that the very slight increase in the longevity of the brake pads is not worth the annoyance.
