for some time now we have been re-using some PET microwave meal bowls. Why should we not do this as we’ve heard its not recomended?

If you’ve heard any of the hype that bisphenol A (BPA) is getting, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is raising some of the same questions. Mainly, plastics made with PET are suspected to contain hormone-disrupting chemicals that can seep into your food, particularly if the container is scratched or microwaved. Studies as to these chemicals being linked to cancer and disturbing the natural processes of reproductive hormones such as estrogen are underway.
