People who speak out against slack lining say that anchoring the nylon webbing to tree trunks may damage the trees.  Slack line enthusiasts claim that a properly anchored line will include padding at the anchor site, and should do no harm to the tree it is anchored to.  Aside from that concern, slack lining has no discernible negative effects on the environment, as it does not release pollutants or require major environmental alterations.
