In terms of thickness, both the elephant and rhino are in the same ballpark. On average, the skin of a rhino ranges from 18 mm – 40 mm thick, while that of an elephant is on average 25 mm – 30 mm. Both animals have extremely tough and thick skin that is necessary for their survival.
