The fight against climate change most requires the leadership of developed countries to be successful. Not only do these nations have the material resources to make changes, but they also tend to have the leadership/infrastructure with the capabilities to implement new schemes on a grand scale. Therefore, the leadership in fighting climate change will more likely come from America than China. Most developing countries, including China and India, are looking to developed countries to provide the impetus for change, as well as make the most ambitious plans to cut emissions (most demand a 40% cut), protect the environment, etc. America, however, also insists on developing countries taking on their own share of the fight, and refuses to set strict targets unless developing countries reciprocate. So it’s a complicated situation–good leadership will be required on both sides.
