Either are fine. As long as your warm up is actually a warm up and not a full on cardio workout. The other thing you really need to worry about is stretching after you exercise. This helps the lactic acid filter through the body instead of collecting and causing cramps.
I usually warm up for a couple of minutes then stretch, just before the actual work out. I found that if I forget to stretch I have a better chance to strain myself. My routine goes: warm up, stretch, work out, relax.
