Should I shut down my desktop PC during a thunderstorm or can I use it as long as it’s connected to a surge protector?

Desktops may not get fried by the lightning when you use a surge protector, but you do run the risk of losing files when the desktop suddenly loses power and shuts down. I would suggest turning it off during a thunderstorm because it also isn’t good for the computer to suddenly lose power. Plus, you may find it frustrating having to start over when you lose the files you are working on.
