Should the government listen to investors since they have a financial reason to want a climate bill?

Yes, although investors may or may not have the welfare of the environment as their number one priority for supporting the climate bill, their position is important nonetheless. In addition to working on getting the climate bill approved, the government has also approved the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The purpose behind this legislation is to spark economic growth that will sustain itself. Similarly, if investors are looking for the passage of the climate bill to persuade them to invest, this bill will not only help the economy but the environment as well.
