I’m not sure Scarlett Johansson has been around long enough, or invested enough money, to be considered a true philanthropist, but she has joined the Oxford Family for Famine Relief (Oxfam), and is funding a school in India for the next three years. Additionally, Hurricane Katrina inspired her to join forces with USA Harvest, through which she provided 1.5 million pounds of food.
I wonder what constitutes a philanthropist beyond intention and effort? Surely there isn’t a time limitation or $$ requirement.
But she is added to the list as one of the green celebrities, and has made efforts in that regard. That should count as philanthropy…doing good beyond one’s self.
