The City of San Diego has been following a Climate Protection Action Plan since 2005. They have an Environmental Preferential Purchasing Policy, and conservation is written into the City of San Diego General Plan. All of this is detailed on the City’s Sustainable Community Program website.
San Diego has also built a regional sustainability partnership that includes local businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies, universities and military groups. Together, these groups work in four different policy committees, including clean transportation, energy & water, green products & materials, and waste reduction & recycling. While no events are shown in their calendar for July, the partnership works to exchange sustainable ideas and is the largest group promoting sustainability in San Diego and its immediate surroundings. Check their website for some of their accomplishments.
