There are a couple of hazardous problems with nuclear energy. While it is a type of energy that burns clean (no pollution from the energy itself), nuclear energy results in nuclear waste that no one quite knows what to do with. If this nuclear waste gets into contact with the environment, it has the potential to be very damaging to the ecosystem it hits. Another danger to having nuclear energy is a reactor meltdown. They’re rare, but they’re extremely harmful when they do happen (Chernobyl, in Russia, is a good example of this). On the whole though, nuclear energy has great potential if we can figure out what to do with the biproducts of the energy.
