Is the ring neck pheasant native to North America?

Yes.  In fact, it’s South Dakota’s state bird!  However, it didn’t always start out that way.  They are really native to Russia, but they were introduced to areas all over the world because they are considered an excellent game bird.  As a result, they have become native to North America over time.
