Probably not. While it does run all day every day, there are many other appliances that use a lot more energy. Looking at a website that gives the average wattage used by various household appliances the average refrigerator uses 725 watts of power. The average dishwasher and clothes dryer will use much more than that (between 1200 and 5000 watts), but only be used for a few hours a week. From these estimates, it appears that the biggest energy hog in a household could be the water heater. A 40 gallon water heater can consume between 4500 and 5500 watts. (data was not given for air conditioners)
