The way my grandma recycles broken clay pots is by putting them at the bottom of the pots she is currently using. By having the clay fragments at the bottom of the pot it helps keep air in the soil and allows water to flow through better.

You can also decorate your existing pots with mosaics made out of the broken ones by using grout (of different colors if you like) and further breaking the pieces to suit your needs. You can even use stones, pebbles, and broken glass or whatever else you might want to reuse, in your mosaic. Here’s an article with other ways to use your broken pots.
