Is pollution a public health problem?

    According to, pollution is defined as the contamination of soil, water, or the atmosphere by the discharge of a harmful substance. Public is generally understood as preventing disease and prolonging life for the public at large. So according to these definitions pollution is harmful to the public if the pollutants contaminate sources used by the public at large.

    Yes, it is a public health problem since it is involving the harming of health of populations at large and it is also an environmental problem since it is threatening ecosystems and animals species as well. The problem of pollution might seem simple, but it is relatively complex, and there are often many sources that go into causing the pollution. It is a problem that public health has been studying and trying to find solutions for for many years.
