The object will eventually take a parabolic path down. The horizontal vector will remain approximately the same as the projectile travels forward, and may decrease slightly due to air resistance as it travels. In earth’s atmosphere, we often assume that air resistance is negligible. The vertical vector will increase in magnitude over time until the projectile reaches the ground. How far the projectile travels depends on the magnitude of the horizontal vector and how much time it spends in flight.
