Tidal power is really just a special use of modern hydroelectric power, so it’s quite efficient in many ways. By taking advantage of the regularity and the power of tides, tidal power can provide more consistent energy generation than wind or solar power, which can be greatly affected by weather conditions. Tidal power leverages the gravitational force of the moon and sun and the Earth’s rotation, which are about as renewable as energy sources get. Tidal power is not widely implemented yet, but it presents an appealing avenue for future development.
