The question says:
Before Josie starts running, her pulse rate is quite slow.
What happens to her pulse rate while she is running?

    Josie’s pulse rate will increase. The pulse rate measures how quickly the blood is pumped through the heart and as she begins to exercise, the rate will increase. The heart is working harder and blood is moved more quickly so oxygen can be supplied to the cells. With oxygen, the cells are able to make glucose, which is used as food for the cells. This allows the body to continue to exercise and the heart to continue to pump blood throughout the body.
