Many types of plastic tupperware can be used to reheat food in the microwave. There should be a microwave safe symbol on the bottom of the plastic storage containers. However, phthalates, PBCs, and BPA are present in most plastic food storage containers and can leach into the food when warmed. For this reason, those with a high concern for health may want to avoid reheating food in plastic containers in the microwave. There are a few plastic food storage containers that are free of those potentially harmful substances.
