Plastic, and trash in general, is indeed quite a problem for certain beaches. In the UK, plastics on beaches has increased 121% over the past 15 years. However the plastic bottles are only the visible part of the plastic pollution we the creating in our marine environment. According to a National Geographic report, microscopic plastic is becoming more prevelant in the oceans as well and “is not only littering the beach…it is becoming the beach.”
Some areas much more than others, but absolutely plastic is. I am doubtful you could find a beach anywhere without a single piece of plastic pollution, unless the beach is regularly patrolled and cleaned.
