According to the National Association for PET Container Resources, PET containers don’t leach harmful chemicals into the water or food they hold, even if they’re frozen or heated. Bisphenol A, a common material named in the discussion of the dangers of plastics, is not used to manufacture PET. Antimony, which is part of the PET production process, has been shown to have very low toxicity.
