Peroxide is an active ingredient in many hair-dyes that works by opening the hair’s cuticles to accept different shades of pigment. These are applied in the form of the hair-dye itself. While dying your hair every once and a while will no do significant damage, constant use of peroxide can cause many hair problems. These include damage to the scalp, brittle roots and an over lack of the ability of absorb new pigments. Depending on the amount of peroxide in the hair-dye, this can take different amounts of time. Not surprisingly, like just about everything, its fine in moderation.
