Our sugar maples are loosing it’s bark. Almost like the bark is dying. The tree has never been injured.

    It is not uncommon for older sugar maples to shed their bark. This is a part of the growing process. This is how old maples end up with shaggy bark.

    If you are still concerned, especially if there are other signs of disease, you should contact a local tree specialist or the agricultural department at your local college.
