Habitat destruction is the chief concern when it comes to biodiversity in relation to population growth. Deforestation is the front-runner in destroying animal, plant and organism habitats, but pollution of the oceans and freshwater lakes and streams is also a major concern. The introduction of non-native species to a new area is also causing extinctions.
