Other than Tofurkey, what are some good alternatives to the traditional turkey?

You could always just serve more of the traditional side dishes, such as sweet potatoes, meatless stuffing, and of course pumpkin pie! My mom used to always serve lasagna or some kind of pasta casserole as an alternative. Check out websites like allrecipes.com for festive meatless alternatives. And remember, it is not what you eat, but who you are sharing the day with that is important!

Try a pumpkin or sweet potato soup, a vegetarian shepherd’s pie, a vegetable gratin, risotto, or a hearty pasta dish.

There are other companies that make tofu turkey if you simply don’t want Tofurky brand (I will admit that it can be a little dry).  Also, some vegetarian restaurants will make homemade vegan turkey — Veggie Heaven, located in areas of New Jersey, make excellent vegetarian Thanksgiving feasts complete with vegetarian turkey, brown rice stuffing, gravy, potatoes and many other treats.  You could also just make more side dishes, or find another vegetarian entree to serve as the main course.  Check websites for vegetarian recipes; they’re becoming easier and easier to find.
