Ontario PV FIT program

Under the Ontario Feed In Tariff (FIT) program, a homeowner installs PVs and gets paid 80 cents (about) per KWH. But the residential rate charged is about 8 cents per KWH. How can they do this? What investment does one make to provide energy at this level?

I’m not sure whether you’re asking how they can afford to pay the 80 cents per KWH, or how the standard rate is so low. Essentially, the Canadian government is using a heavy incentive to help create a solar infrastructure. Traditional utilities are, of course, much cheaper, but the Canadian government is serious about their energy future.
