Is oil used in many production processes?

I’m not certain what you mean by production processes, but many many sorts of products use oil, either as an actual component or in the manufacturing process. Examples include obvious plastic (including things like synthetic rubber for tires, plastic CD’s, cell phone cases and much more), as well as the fuel to run machinery for mining of ores, transportation of food, harvesting of crops, manufacture of fertilizer, production of things like shampoo, cars, and more – oil is nearly ubiquitous in American life.
